Year 4 and 5 Mass - St Wulstan

Hello Year 4.  It's our Mass on Wednesday the 19th Janaury at 9:30am in the church.

It is the feast day of St Wulstan who was a bishop from Worcester a long time ago from 1008 - 1095 AD.   It is your homework this week to find out about St Wulstan and answer the following questions about him.  You can answer the questions by commenting on this post or by writing the answers in your homework book.

Read this information and answer the following questions:
Wulstan was born in the village of Itchington, Warwickshire.  He became Bishop of Worcester in 1062 only a few years before the the Norman invasion.   Wulstan took a job working for the Bishop of Worcester who soon gave him the chance to advance to the priesthood and take charge of a local parish.  Wulstan, however, turned down the offer as he wanted to be a monk, and it was not long before he did indeed enter a monastery in Worcester.  He would keep watch for hours at the door of the Monastery so that he could baptise the children of the poor and help those who had been injured.  The Cardinals of the church pleaded with him to become a Bishop and he accepted in 1062.  He performed mnay miracles including laying of healing hands on a woman, and healing a leper.  Wulstan died a little after midnight on Saturday the nineteenth day of January in 1095 AD

1.  When did he become a bishop?
2.  Why did he say no to becoming a bishop at first?
3.  Why did he keep watch at the monastery?
4.  What miracles did he perform?
5.  When did he die?

I'll look forward to reading your comments!
